I don’t understand this thing in the rick and morty fandom where everyone’s waiting for rick to be outed about “really caring” as if he’s just being a gruff and stubborn old man who secretly has a heart of gold. like… no, rick is intentionally written as an extremely abusive, narcissistic and manipulative person who chooses to straight up emotionally torture his loved ones and toy with thier emotions to get them to behave how he wants. He subjects them (morty specifically) to horrible traumatizing things on purpose and it doesn’t help that the show portrays the characters very realistically reacting and having lasting affects afterwards
