There’s a lot of fics that deal with Spock avoiding casual touch because hey–touch telepath. But. BUT–Vulcans are evolved from cats, who are communal, colony creatures. They suffer when they don’t have regular close contact.

I mean, it’s possible that part of the reason Vulcan society evolved to be as rigid as it is was in relation to having to deal with touch-starvation, and that it’s mostly public display with closer contact at home.

But it’s also possible that they’ve also evolved away from the need for constant contact–I’m only speculating.

But SPOCK is half human, and humans DO NOT DEAL WELL with touch starvation, and because of his humanity Spock has had to be extra-Vulcan so he probably doesn’t even get the release valves the other Vulcans do–and he’s on the ship where nobody *knows* about these valves and–
