• they have an established friendship that you could easily pull into a (healthy!!!!) relationship with a lot of interesting plot points and elements
• it could address bisexuality since they’ve both dated girls in the past
• they’re not super popular characters to the point where it’d be detrimental to sales if bigoted fuckboys stopped reading over it
• yet they’re still known characters with a rich history in the DCU and are attached to big name characters (bats and supes) enough that it’s not like “lol yes token gay couple over here in the corner that nobody knows about”
• they’re not doing anything else right now  (kon doesn’t even exist in rebirth to my knowledge) so you’re really not losing anything or taking them away from existing titles
• it would actually probably… increase their popularity right now? it might draw in new readers? people like diversity – ie: young avengers
• i bet marcus to would be on board to draw it tbh
• they’re cute as all fuck together literally why not
